Scalaed
Saved from death before his birth, Scalaed is secretly raised by Melanie and Jason in the desert state of Arizona. As the years go by, be begins to wonder more and more of where he came from and what is his destiny. And that woman’s voice and his tremors … could they all be connected?
Briefur
As a member of the Hündr, Briefur is a trarewolf; one of five canid tribes. With the patron of a wolf, he can assume his animal form at will or summon specific attributes should the situation call for it. He’s a skilled tracker, and becomes Melanie’s first ally.
Fallon
As Briefur’s younger cousin, Fallon is also one of the Hündr. A froxil to be exact. She has incredible hearing and the curiosity and mischief of a fox. Like her cousin, she wields a short blade and joins Briefur and Melanie on her rescue mission.
Elken
A mysterious archer of the Thornbrillian hunting party, Elken is on the hunt alongside the High Huntress Helnah, who tasks him with keeping an eye on their prisoner Melanie. But is he here of his own accord?
Helnah
Ruthless. Tyrant. Monster. Villain. Just some of the titles those who cross her might think. With a complicated and tragic backstory, Helnah vows to conquer all of Tindoria, and as the realm’s ruler, eradicate all war. But behind this seemingly noble quest, she hides secrets horrifying enough to give hardened men nightmares. And what does she want with the Waldens siblings?
Baraden
A disgraced scribe, Baraden now lives a simple life of solitude in the outskirts of the Hündr’s White Village. Wielder of an ancient weapon thought lost to legend, he provides wisdom and aid to any who stop by his cabin … provided his dog Byrn doesn’t eat them first.
Empress Elethýna
Immeasurably powerful, Empress Elethýna is a Celestial—an immortal whose origins remain a mystery, and she’s lived since Tindoria’s dawn. Her visitations allude to looming events, apocalyptic or benevolent, and those to whom she appears become her chosen warriors.
Thendrell
He’s been by Helnah’s side since she began her conquest, and there is nothing that would tear him from her side. Loyal to the end, Thendrell is her right-hand man and keeps an eye on Helnah to make sure she doesn’t do anything too foolish.
Laena
Once living as nobility, now cast into the dark, dank depths of prison, Laena has been subjected to loneliness and torture for … well, she’s lost track of how long. All she knows is there is no going back, so she might as well succumb to the despair that suffocates her daily.
Keth & Helketh
Almost an inseparable duo, Keth and Helketh are two of Elken’s acquaintances. Bumbling and imbecilic at times, Keth does his best to be useful while Helketh cleans up the aftermath of what was, more often than not, Keth’s mistake. Elken can’t stand either of them.
Elthar
A recluse in his lab filled with questionable potions, Elthar is the healer on staff at the Fortress of Thornbrill, mainly to aid Helnah, but he is only one of two who knows as to why.
Poison Ivy
Let’s just say she wasn’t supposed to be like this … but Jason couldn’t leave her.
The White Chief & Chieftess
Helmir and Vytia together rule the White Village of the Hündr. Intense and combat-hardened, Helmir’s qualities are complimented by the gentleness and wisdom of his wife. They are loved by the village and will fight to the death to protect their people.
Lucy & Ian Waldens
Melanie and Jason’s parents met in California in a small town under tumultuous circumstances. After marrying two years later, they were stationed in California followed by another move to Arizona.
