Behold my first Brando Sando book. What can I say except he lives up to his reputation! Mistborn hooked me from the start with the red sun, ash mounts, tattooed Obligators, the trouble-making Kelsier, and the mysterious Vin. Each character had their own voice and motives; I don’t think any of them fell flat or were unlikeable except for those designed to be disliked. The intricacy and care of this heist fantasy plot, and the magic system with all its rules showcase Sanderson’s attention to detail. This checked off my exact bookish preferences: fast paced, lovable non-girlboss-FMC, witty dialogue, basically no romance, and enough violence for drama without being gratuitous.

Dare I say I get Arcane vibes from this story? Oh, to see this animated like that would be incredible.

5/5 would recommend

*bloody, damnation (exclamation)
**sleeping with slaves is discussed multiple times but never shown on page; it is a commonality among the noble culture and is despised. Children out of wedlock and brothels are also discussed.
